Thank you

My Earrings are HERE!

My earrings arrived! Thank you Chris!!! I am blessed to have found her! If you (my sweet readers) would like some new treat for yourself….go to my sidebar and find Chris Kerr Jewelry. She creates and sells “one-of-a-kind” treasures!

If you know me, you are thinking….what is wrong with your face??? Well, sinus problems jumped on me in full force last night…along with lack of sleep (have I told you about the night sweats? Have I told you that I don’t sleep….but instead flip from on top of the covers to under the covers—with a ceiling fan on…and the window partially opened and it’s about 40° outside at night)…anyway…for the past SEVERAL nights….this has caused the “lack of rest” look. Or maybe that’s just the way it is at this stage/age…..
ANYWAY….this is about the earrings…not me! Thank you Chris (they match my glasses!) (Which I wear only when I want to see)

A Camping We Will Go!

I did tell you we were having the boys (some of them) this weekend….well, we had this bright idea! Set up the tent in the living room….
Well, sounded good…on the surface….but then there was the size….and the fact that you could watch TV from only one other place in the living room….and then there was the noise…that the zipper made…CONSTANLY….open-closed-open-closed-open-well, my hair is barely hanging on….but they had fun. That’s what counts right? Matters not that I didn’t get any cleaning done…they are only 6, 4 1/2 and 1 1/2 once in their lives!

We made “ninja food”…because, of course Zackary wanted to play Ninja….and trucks…and trains…and Legos….and he was something I never could quite make out…Monja Man—or something…and Rylan was Bondo Boy…whatever that is…does that mean his drives a Bondo car???

What was funny, in listening to them was, Zackary would stand outside the tent and “ring” a pretend doorbell (by the way, the tent was also called a “cave”)—do caves have doorbells? Anyway, Rylan would say “just a minute”…in a cute voice — all the while little Cy was trying his best to “play where he could”…

Zackary was quick to “tell” me if someone was not playing right. He is the little tattletale of the bunch that was here.

All in all…Papa and I are pooped. No, for this bunch I did NOT clean house before they got here. The cleaning is done after they leave.

Stop back by, once my sanity returns…I will post a devotion.

Thankful Thursdays, Wanda

HALLELUJAH!

HALLELUJAH! I say Hallelujah….because that was the exact word that one of the attorneys said when I told him Wanda was released from the hospital! The most unexpected word from him ever! It was funny—and awesome…..you’d have to work here to understand. *Grin*.
It is gloomy looking, very cool, wet, windy and just not a pleasant day for “sky watching”…..unless you are expecting “Someone to appear!” A friend of mine lost an earring this week and we’ve all been looking at the ground/floor as we walk. No looking up. Just down.
Do you know what you see when you look down? Junk. A mess. Dirt in the corner, dirty baseboards (you know I have a thing about baseboards), little giblets of paper, pieces of trash brought in from outside. It will make your neck hurt to constantly look down. You lose your focus. You may even run into a tree limb (like I did at the post office the other night—well it was dark!).
I needed to change my focus this week. I have looked down at the gloomy circumstances of things so long that my neck hurts. So, here we go. The best day of the week. Where we all “choose” to look up. Not down. Not at what we don’t have, but at what we do have. That’s what Thankful Thursday is all about. Thank you my sweet friend Iris for gathering us all together at your “house” to look UP!
eI am thankful for a WONDERFUL Bible Study last night at Wanda’s house! With her! AND Beth Moore! We began the “Stepping Up” study last night, and sisters—-this is THE ONE for us all!
eI am thankful for the winter weather…yes it’s cold, yes it’s been a bit rainy….but we need it.
eI am thankful for my sweet friend (in real life), Elizabeth who gave birth to an awesome baby boy weighing in at 9 lbs 2 oz! He starts school in a week! (kidding)
eI am thankful for my family. The closeness of each heart.
eMost of all, I am thankful for my Father. In heaven. His love knows no boundaries….He will reach in the deepest pit for me….wade through the thickest mud…..and show me love when I am at my most “unlovable”. That’s my Father.
Join us all over at Iris‘ house! That would be “Sting my heart“.
Iris’ verse for the day: “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. ~ Ephesians 2:8-10 (ESV)

Got Peace?

Here I go, first step – first baby blog. I finally did it, does this impress you Angie, that I can actually do something technical. Well, it will impress my teenage daughter, Valaree. Before this was posted Angie checked it so, if something is wrong with it, she proof read it.
From the start, lets get this straight: Angie is the oldest sister, Wanda is the “middle” sister, and I’m the baby sister. I figured I needed to enlighten everyone on this, out in blogville! Okay, Angie I’ll get to the blog. (Aimee, you are a real stinker for this!)
A few weeks ago the Lord blessed my heart with some thoughts on this verse and I wrote it down: “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts” Colossians 3:15.

What is the opposite of peace? Maybe restlessness. How do you let Christ’s peace rule? When things are in utter chaos and everything seems a mess (the Lord gave me this thought at the end of November)- you give God the entirety of the situation. There is nothing I can do that can bring peace – it must come from Him. Let God take charge! Christ’s peace is not a denial of the circumstances, but instead a commitment to the fact that He is enough for your circumstances- my circumstances. When we put God in the driver’s seat and we relax in peace, then He will get us there, and on time, He rules! There is a certain saying – “Girls rule.” Well, my view is: God rules. At least, I want Him to – only then do we have true peace.
Recently, I made a decision. Prayed about it, but no answer – “Silence gives consent,” right? Not always. I made a drastic job change. Thinking I needed a retirement plan, I needed more benefits, better pay, etc… Nothing is wrong with this idea, except what’s the cost – peace?
That’s a high price to pay! When I think of peace, I picture a hoola hoop of stress around a person, but the person in the center remains calm, stable, controlled. You can’t hoola hoop if you lose the rhythm or focus. If you lose the centrifugal force of stability, the hoop will always come tumbling down around you. Look at Abraham and Sarah, promised a son – felt like they had to wait too long. “Maybe God needed some help,” or so they thought. This promise seemed impossible from the natural stand-point. They decided to take their puzzle and force it together like some miss-matched puzzle pieces, and what they got was a distorted picture, no peace – utter chaos, turmoil – and hurt people.
They decided having Hagar in the picture was not quite what God had in mind. They didn’t see the whole picture, only the puzzle pieces they had. If only they would have waited for the Master to take the right pieces and bring peace.
Speaking of peace, what about poor Peter? The storm raged many times in his life and Jesus had calmed the storm. Walking on water seemed like a good idea. Might be better than riding in a boat, maybe some extra “benefits” and might even draw a crowd. It even sounded fun! – But when his focus changed, his eyes were not on Jesus – they were in the beginning, but not right now, and maybe he had been thinking, “I can do this on my own”, however; when the stormy sea started slapping around his legs, the fear came – no peace.
The saying is true, “No God, no peace; know God, know peace.” He can give the peace in your heart, just bring Him all your pieces. Our ways are not His ways, and our thoughts are not always in line with His. Waiting can be tough, but hold on, it’s easier to wait with peace than being pieced together.
Once, I was making a dress. I laid the pattern out wrong and ended up not having enough material to cut the whole thing out (now I remember why I don’t sew), so I had to piece it together. (I don’t think I wore it, if I did, it was only on Wednesday night. Ha! Ha!)
If I had only read the directions, or maybe sought some help rather than rush – that crazy dress might still be in my closet!
Allow God to give you peace in the stormy places. The peace that God gives is fulfilling. Peace is a quiet place – let’s go to that quiet place and rest in Him.

Keeping the Faith,

The Sisters (Aimee)

Thank you for reading my “book” that my husband said I wrote. I just had a heart full of things to say. Thanks for taking the time to read my post. Ya’ll come back now, ya hear? Do you like that for an ending Angie? (They say that on the Beverly Hillbilly’s, Wanda!) —Aimee, I left that in on purpose!

New places to visit

In case you run out of great things to read….go to some of the sites on my sidebar (I have added some new ones that I have discovered) and ENJOY! You will find uplifting, encouraging and faith building friends there. A few even have some extra things like “crafting and cooking, etc.” that we all enjoy!

I really wish (because I’m from the South) that we could get some of that fluffy white stuff for a couple of days….(I know…if I had to drive in it I wouldn’t want it—what my brother-in-law from Indiana always says.) But still….just for a couple of days~~~

Thank you for your continued prayers for my sister, Wanda. She has continued to lose some of the fluid (thank you Jesus!) and is gaining strength. Please continue to pray. We have many more years of “Sister’s Retreats” to enjoy!

I am working on a devotion…the Lord is working on me through it….pray girls! Also, I will be having a give-away in February! So-stay tuned!

Family Driven Faith!

Loni from “Writing Canvas” is having an awesome book give-away! Family Driven Faith: Doing What it Takes to Raise Sons and Daughters Who Walk With the Lord by Voddie T. Baucham, Jr.
In Loni’s words: “This book is phenomenal. Not only is it a wake-up call for the family, it’s a wake-up call for our churches. If you are a Christian family, wanting your children to stay committed with ”real Christianity” you need to read this book. The statistics are staggering how many teens profess to be Christians yet by the end of their freshman year of college, 88% of them walk away from their faith. “

The give-away ends January 17—so hurry! Click on “Writing Canvas” and get over there! FAST!

Thanks Loni, for this timely book! (I hope I win!!)
