Saving Me

We have so MUCH to be thankful for.

On Thanksgiving Day after finishing lunch, dishes and some fellowship, I left Jeff’s moms for my mother’s house with two boys in tow.

While driving, I look over at Zack and ask, “So, Zackary, what’s God been doing in your life?”

Without hesitation Zackary responded, “Saving me”.

Yes.  On a daily basis –Zackary.  God is saving me too…from me.  From the bondage of “stuff”….

Changing my perspective to align with His.

Rescuing me from the walls of the pit we sometimes insist on decorating…

From looking too inwardly and not enough outwardly.

Yes, He is saving me.  Thank you for reminding me of what He actually came for…what the manger was really intended to hold…not food…but Food.  Life.  His.  For mine.

Thank You Lord Jesus.  For saving me.

Choices

Tenth Avenue North has a song entitled, You Are More.  A-m-a-z-i-n-g message.  Struck me the first time I heard it.

You are more than the choices that you’ve made,
You are more than the sum of your past mistakes,
You are more than the problems you create,
You’ve been remade.

Over and over the past few weeks it has played through my mind every time I heard of someone’s bad choice–or wrong “timed” choice-

I remembered my own bad choices.  Wrong timed choices.  Stupid choices.   But then, there was a choice that I made that changed my forever.  My God choice.  When He called, I answered.  My final answer–affecting my forever choice.

Today, I had lunch with someone dear to my heart and through the conversation –I began to see a picture.  I came back and finished editing one I had taken a few weeks ago on a weekend of “rest”… 🙂

The bridge had been ruined with years of graffiti –but it still stood. Thankfully, a good photo shop editing took care of the graffiti.  I added words and a sprinkling of snow…

I leave you with the picture–and an encouragement to look UP.

He’s guiding.

Pay attention.

Burn only the bridges that have led you the wrong way.

Happy Happy Happy Thanksgiving!

The AFTER Thanksgiving Day Parade

Well, I didn’t catch the parade on Thanksgiving Day.  Maybe you were able to.

If you didn’t I will share our parade with you…

There is still a trail of laundry between the bedroom and the laundry room.

If your family does not have a clown…I feel sorry for you.

We are full to running over with clowns.

AND they were in rare form.

Little Jake is gathering speed to make his mark…and he will make it with a huge force! He is a quiet sweetie…. 🙂

Cy is the blue eyed delight.

You should hear these little ones pray.

Okay. So here is what went down.  We had little visitors.

And we did some visiting! 😉

Great FUN was had….also great tiredness is happening now.

Tiff cooked her first big family Thanksgiving meal.  We missed her bunch.

Jeff and I took a troop to his mom’s then to mine.

We ALL ate way too much. We were all blessed.

Ended the evening with a fun game of “bananagrams” or something like that.  It was Aimee’s game–but it was FUN.  Gotta get us one of those games!

Mother and I had a hotflash contest.  I still think I won.

On second thought, she may have won this round.

From my mother’s kitchen, to yours, we hope and pray that your Thanksgiving meal filled you up–and that your heart and soul also experienced some joy amidst all the flurry of activity that more than likely surrounded your bunch.

I don’t do the Friday shopping after Thanksgiving.  Instead we decided to just rest here.

Mother and I talked on the phone today about all that we are thankful for.  She read me her passage of Scripture that she was standing on from Romans, and I read her mine:

Ephesians 6:10-17.  All the praise for all things goes to HIM.

May your weekend and next week be filled with blessings.

From our hearts and home to yours, Happy Thanksgiving.

I Have a SERIOUS Bone to Pick

My Mother’s Table -2008

What happened to Thanksgiving?
Can someone tell me?
Case in point–I landed on a blog quite by accident of leaving a friend’s spot—and the blogger was saying goodby to halloween and hello to Christmas.
Sorry.  But that’s not the way it is kiddo.  (I can say kiddo—I am older.)
There is a wonderful holiday tucked in the middle.  It begins with a thankful heart.
I also noticed yesterday —on the Hallmark Channel—they will begin the Christmas countdown on Monday.  Uhmmm–do you see what I see?

The Desserts!

They counted down the days (of all the crazy things) to halloween—and are planning their countdown to Christmas—but hey!
WHAT ABOUT THANKSGIVING???

I will wash mine hands in innocency: so will I compass thine altar, O LORD:  That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works. Psalm 26:6-7

I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.  Psalm 69:30

Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.  Psalm 95:2

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, [and] into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, [and] bless his name. Psalm 100:4  (all KJV)

Okay.  I am trying to calm the severe hot flash that just overtook me.  It just happens when I realize people are leaving OUT Thanksgiving.

There are so MANY things I have to be thankful for!

  • A wonderful husband
  • Precious children and grandchildren
  • Incredible family
  • The whispers of God in my heart
  • Food in my pantry
  • Dirty clothes to wash
  • Shoes without holes
  • Running water at the touch of a faucet
  • Drinkable running water at the touch of a faucet (read the mission trip to Honduras)
  • FRIENDS (past-present and future)
  • SISTERS (in-laws included)
  • BROTHERS (in-laws included)
  • MUSIC–Worship songs–Praise songs–and jumpin’ up house cleaning songs! (those would be UP-BEAT)
  • THE WORD (and the ability to read my Bible anytime-anywhere–not possible in many foreign Countries)
  • SAVATION AND HOPE
  • HEAVEN
  • Answers to prayers
  • GOD THE FATHER, GOD THE SON, AND GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT
  • YOU the faithful reader–even though I’ve not written faithfully!

What are YOU thankful for?
