Leaving Bolivia 2012

My son-in-law, David Pettis, reminded me tonight about what I’ve already struggled with and felt.  I’ve not kept you up-to-date as I normally do.  We assessed the situation this evening before going to dinner—it has been the long—L-o-n-g days.  That began early and ended well after midnight for all.

The heat has been a difficulty—but this bunch of missionaries have trooped onward without hesitation at any task assigned.DSCF0576

Yesterday was spent at the newly formed Teen Challenge.  I must say, for many reasons, that day was the most difficult for all.  Not only were we already tired—but we were missing our “little children” we had each grown to love and expect to see every day.  We’ll share more about that at the church when we get home.

On to the events of tonight.  Tonight was the goodbye night.

The difficult night.

The night that this week of ministry has lead up to…and as Jeff and I sat with Pastor Joel at the table after the others had left, I could not keep my throat from tightening up with the emotion of what we saw transpire this week.  For all of us –it has been incredible.DSCF0784

Four words were spoken by Pastor Joel that caused my gut to tighten—as I have heard this in my spirit from the LORD for many months now…

“…We are losing time”

Yes, we are Pastor.  Many feel that same urgency.  Many choose not to feel—or if they do feel it—they quickly suffocate it with busyness—rather than seeking God for divine direction on how to win the lost.

Many churches would rather cut missions programs to ensure that activities can proceed.  I will stop right here and tell you—if that makes you uneasy—go ahead and as we say in the South, “shut-er-down”…meaning your computer.  Flip the switch, turn the page—I promise it won’t get easier.

God is not lightening up on me—and I will not lighten or brighten up this message to make you feel better.

100_8540We are losing time.  Last night 3 youths from our home town area lost their lives in an accident.  Three mom’s lost sons.  Three families have broken hearts that will never be the same.  Oh, eventually, they will have a semblance of family time and activities again, but life the way it was last week—will never be again.

I can just imagine if those same three boys could speak to us today, they would quickly tell you, “don’t waste a single minute—Eternity is waiting”.

We each have one.  We have a decision to make—one way or the other—one place or the other—we will spend eternity somewhere.  Being a “good person” will not be enough when God calls us home—or if Christ returns before this blog is completely read by you…

John 3:16 was the focus of this week.

For God…

Because God—loved YOU and ME so much…

He GAVE…

God was not coerced…His arm was not twisted…He was not given 3 choices…

He decided in advance—that sinners would need a Savior…and there was NO One able to be the sacrifice– but HIS only Son.

He GAVE…so that WHOEVER would believe on Him—accepting HIM as their personal Savior–

Each one of us a chance to do that—

He gave each of us a free will…the decision is ours alone.

Being raised in a good family—living in a nice town….going to a good school—or even a good church is not enough.

WE must make the decision on our own…to accept Christ as our Savior and have eternal life—or to reject Him and embrace eternal damnation.

By not accepting Jesus—we are rejecting Him.  Plain and simple.  No two ways about it—and as Bro. Shane Martin preached a few Sunday nights ago…there are only two roads….

One is easy and wide.  The other is difficult and narrow…and the Word says “FEW” will find it…

Why?  Because we are selfish.

We want “easy”.  We want smooth sailing.

We want our way.  Our money.  Our time.  Our pleasure.

Let others support missions.  Let others go.  Let others send.  Let others pray.

Tonight, as we sat there and Pastor Joel ask Jeff and I how he and his Bible Study group could pray for us…

We both said had the same answer.  We desire to follow God—be lead by His Spirit and have wisdom needed in the coming days, weeks, months, and if Christ should tarry, years to pour into those He puts in our path.

This week, we’ve had hundreds in our path that we could not speak their language.  Yet the Spirit of God enabled us to reach out and love them with HIS all surpassing love and presence.

We are each taking something home with us tomorrow.

A new vision.

A renewed purpose.

A passion to serve.

A willing heart to follow—wherever He may lead.

And as Kassi would say…. “You betta watch-out!”

Today’s The Day

Grace Assembly

We leave from here…in just a short while.

Going far to share HIS love with those who He has directed our path to cross.

We are going to tell others about HIM…His name…the power behind His name…the LOVE His name carries…the FREEDOM…

Yesterday I began my serious packing.  I had made my initial preparations–washing…ironing…deciding…but the real packing began yesterday.

As we finalized our baggage and items we were taking last night–I began to think of ALL the things He has shown me and the places we  (HE and I) have gone together… “Everywhere”….but I never went anywhere that He didn’t go FIRST and prepare the way and the place.

Behold, I send aAngel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.  Exodus 23:20 KJV

He’s already made the provision for this trip…for so many of this group–HE LITERALLY PAID THE WAY.  We are each thankful for every single contribution.    By your blessing us…we can be a blessing to others…and you are a part of the circle of HIS love.

I will post here every day–as internet activity is permitted–(Pray for that end).  Pray for the luggage…carrying over 500 copies of GOOD NEWS…pray for each member of the team–that they will experience a part of God’s vision that they never dreamed….Pray that HE places within EACH heart a fresh move of God that so captures our souls that we can no longer sit idly by and watch others work for Him…that we must MUST MUST find our place and work too…

There are 12 members of the team–and every single one was chosen by HIM for this journey.  There were others in the beginning…but it came down to this 12…and I KNOW HE has a purpose…

I want to leave you with a song for the road…I pray that it blesses your heart…as YOU realize FRESH today–YOU ARE HIS….and He has the plans and places all mapped out–walk in HIS truth.

Trust HIM with all the details….

Follow HIM…..Today.

Bolivia…HERE WE COME!

Tattle Tale-Tattle Tale–Hang Your Britches on a Nail

Do you remember that silly little childhood rhyme?  I remember hearing it when I was young…and I remember repeating the chant along with the other little kids in the school yard….

I can hear the “tattling” report from this one pictured now… “Nana, Jake pushed me down in the water”...whiny voice.

Nana:  “Uhm, no, I think you guys were playing “baptizer”….”

The truth…was both.  Jake pushed him into the water…because they were PLAYING.  Jason (with a whine) twisted the truth so that I’d scold Jake….and hoping I would take his side and pet and pamper him a bit….(I didn’t—I did what you would do… “get on back outside and play and hush that tattlin'”)

I read something last night that I wanted to share with you about the “real” tattler of tales–

“Satan is a murderer and a deceiver; he entices and he attacks.  But today he specializes in accusing.  Heaven recognizes this, and so  must every Christian.  Night and day he accuses us, and his charges, which are not unfounded, are directed at our conscience–the very point where we most lack the strength to fight him.”  (Watchman Nee, Daily Devotions from a Table in the Wilderness 1957)

Did you catch that?  We have a non-stop tattle-tale in our  midst.

Did you have a sibling who constantly was a tattler?

I have heard my grand-kids do the tattle-tale bit.  It is aggravating…because they are quick to point a finger at someone else, but –don’t go looking at them.

Then the whining starts.  Ugh.  That is as bad as tattling.

Revelation 12:10 says,  “The accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accuseth them before our God day and night.”

Keep in mind…his day is coming.  And while “he” knows this very fact, he wants to see just how many of us he can disarm, dissuade, and cast into a pit of total despair with his constant barrage of tale bearing.

Something else we need to look at– “and his charges, which are not unfounded, are directed at our conscience”... Hmmm.  This is definitely a cause to pause.

“Not unfounded”….you mean he is telling the “truth” on us?

The enemy has a way of twisting things in such a way we soon don’t know which end is up.  He convinces us that we have reason to believe we’re a hopeless failure…he brings up our past…slams it down in front of us like yesterday’s headlines.  We begin to wallow in that–we begin to concentrate on what “he” has just “reminded” us of…not what the “Truth” reveals.

The “TRUTH” is –if we’ve asked Christ Jesus into our lives, the Bible says, HE IS FAITHFUL and JUST to forgive us….(1 John 1:8-10)

The “TRUTH” is “no weapon formed against you shall prosper”…(Isaiah 43:17)

The “TRUTH” is that we are overcomers by the blood of the Lamb and the WORD of our testimony…(Revelation 12:10-12)

Remind the enemy what happened to your sins when you gave your life to Christ…remind him that HE is not ruling your life…remind him that YOU gave Christ your ALL and that you will allow only JESUS to speak LIFE and TRUTH into your life–and you are getting the LIFE and TRUTH every second you spend in the Word of God…

But every time you listen to the enemy?….You are being fed a bunch of tattlin’ tales.  And you are feeling more defeated with every syllable he utters….STOP.

I’ve seen some kneel at the altar–give it all up to Christ–feel totally NEW and whole–and then in just a few weeks…they are right back–almost where they started!

Why?  Because they didn’t get rooted and grounded in the Word…instead–they thought they could just “avoid” a few things and carry on life as usual…without the Word.

Friend….you and I cannot do ANYTHING without the Word.  (Jesus IS THE WORD) (John 1:1-5)

So!  What are we going to do?….

Stop your ears to the enemy by taking in the WORD…fill your mouth with PRAISE to the Father—be the “OVER COMER” that the Word of God already says you ARE!  By the way…speak the Word “out loud”…and do the PRAISING…OUT LOUD.  That will shut the enemy up.  He can’t stand either one of those!

The Cry of the Poor

Ladies of the village leaving
church in Tegucigalpa, Honduras 2010

First, you are shocked to the sole of your sneakers–two blog posts in one week…the next shocker is they are actually back-to-back.

I got convicted.

I believe with all my heart that God ignited this ministry–this work in me when I started this blog (all things leading up to this point were crucial in the development of what I am for HIM today). (Same for you friend…stop and think about your journey up to now.)

I believe that HE uses blogs–to teach, to show, to develop us into usable vessels.  I read other blogs and sit back and say, “Wow.  That is a real great thought line into the Word”….or –I might say, “I wish I could “cook” like Amy–or develop awesome graphics like Lori—but I can’t—

What I CAN do is write what He lays on my heart.  So…–after praying through about being ABSENT….here goes:

It’s hot weather…the hottest I can remember since Cambodia–and in Siem Reap, Cambodia,  it IS what we could REALLY claim as hot…but even though the weather is hot, my mind is rambling down the road a piece–toward Christmas.

It makes me cooler to think “Christmas”.

(Stop laughing.)  A really good evening for me –pop in a movie that has lots of snow…and windy weather…and hey, I’m set!  (I’m not kidding–you can ask Jeff.)

One night recently, I popped in the movie, “Day After Tomorrow”…which is a personal favorite.  Don’t ask me why…I’m just weird like that.

One thing I discovered this time (I discover something new almost every time I watch a movie), with all the loss of lifeno one seemed overly distressed.

I mean–there were hundreds of thousands of people who died.  I told Jeff, it amazed me that you didn’t see anyone–especially the “officials” doubled over in anguish over the death toll.

Oh, right.  Maybe they “were”–Hollywood just didn’t show that part!

It makes me all the more realize the fact that so many of us are numb to the plight of the world.

Remember the blind boy in Bolivia?
His mom’s name is Angie

We see them…but we try not to.

We hear them…but we close off our ears…and eventually our heart.

I’m not really talking about the panhandlers we see at the local Walmart–or intersections to the Interstate Exits (a personal favorite of the panhandlers in the south)…

I’m talking about those who struggle to put one foot in front of the other.

Those whose faces bear the scars of life–by the emptiness in their eyes.

You find them in the check-out at the grocery store.

You find them next to you pumping gas…they stop at $10, while you (and me) can sometimes fill our tank.  Their tank is on “get by mode”.  Just like their lives.

If a disaster struck tomorrow–those with empty eyes and lives–would we think about them? (I’m now thinking of the horrific fires in Colorado.  We’ve had rains–and I’ve wished and prayed for it to be sent to them!)

To be honest–I have a difficult time after a mission trip.  I have problems with those panhandlers–those looking for life with their hand outstretched, or a cardboard sign in front of their chest reading “Will Work For Food”  (really?)  (I do know of some who tried to take them up on the offer of work…and they politely declined the work…)  (Don’t send me “hate mail”, I do realize there are those who are “for real”…and it’s not their second job.  However, here in our little city, we have the same 4 that rotate out.  I’ve watched them shift change.)

I have problems with those of us who “waste” food…knowing that there are countless people–REALLY hungry… who would dig through our garbage if we lived next to them.

But then, life begins to assert itself back into our hearts and thoughts….and those hungry…remain hungry.

Until we decide we can do something for them.  No, we may not can run to the other side of the world with a bucket of chicken–but we can support groups like “Convoy of Hope”, whose mission is feeding people.  We can support Mission of Mercy and Compassion International–who do the same–they feed the body and care for the soul.

When I came home from Honduras–my very first mission trip…I was at once overtaken by the fact that I was blessed with so much.  Not a bank account overflowing (we are as most everyone–paying the bills), but I have blessings of family...friendsfood…a comfortable bed…an air conditioner in the summer and heater in the winter.  I realized with renewed heart what I had to be thankful for!

You don’t have to travel to a foreign country to realize your blessings…just open your eyes and look around.

Then open your heart–and listen to see what God tells you to do about what you see.

Proverbs 21:13 says, If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor,
he too will cry out and not be answered.”

I recently read a devotion and now can’t remember what or where–but the gist is this:

There are many things we cannot do in the world around us–and taking on the sorrow of all would bear down on us such a weight we could no longer stand (Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted-Isaiah 53:4)….but daily–by giving our burdens to the ONE who can carry all–we do what HE assigns us to do.

For those who cross our paths–minister love and care.  We cannot do the job of our Savior, but we can pray–we can give–and we can put all our faith and trust in HIM who never fails.

Whatever we face in the morning…we should keep in mind–there are those who face the same and worse.  (This is a reminder for myself.)

Let’s keep our hearts, eyes, ears open to the cry of the poor….

The Unknown Place

Unknown places…Have you journeyed to any?  Abra[ham] did:

The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you.  I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.”  Genesis12:1-3

Sometimes the unknown can be very frightening…wait.  Who am I kidding?  The unknown is almost always  frightening.  I wonder what it was like for Abraham.

Leave the land you are familiar with.  Leave that place where you are comfortable.  All the familiar watering holes…the places where you could walk blind folded and never trip…go into the unknown.

The Unknown –with all it’s unexpected corners…all the hidden places.
What do we do in the unknown?
Will we know anyone there?
Are the people friendly in the unknown places?
Is it okay to ask questions about the unknown?  I think so.  You can ask–as long as you remain steadfast–steadily trusting.  If your hand becomes sweaty while holding His…keep walking–keep holding.
The Bible doesn’t say that Abraham asked questions…it doesn’t say he faltered at all here–

but later he does.
Later we hear him lie about Sarah being his wife–because maybe he trusted God in a big way at first...but now, maybe he’s not sure–and he’s just getting himself a little cushion…just.in.case.

As he was approaching the border of Egypt, Abram said to his wife, Sarai, “Look, you are a very beautiful woman.  When the Egyptians see you, they will say, ‘This is his wife. Let’s kill him; then we can have her!’ So please tell them you are my sister. Then they will spare my life and treat me well because of their interest in you.”  Genesis 12:11-13

So…God is big enough to take us into the unknown…but not big enough to keep us safe?

Hmmm.  Oh, I’m not throwing stones at Abraham…I’m just wondering what happened from the day he left until the day he arrived on the border of Egypt.  The Bible says he continued on “in stages” (NLT), the King James Version says, “And Abram journeyed, going on still toward the South.”  (This was before the name change, pardon me for using his changed name–I like my own “changed name” best too, Angie Knight, daughter of the Most High God.)
Maybe Abraham began “thinking” too much about what he had…and less about what God had said and done… (I’m just thinking out loud.)
Jeff and I have gone through some changes.  We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary on Saturday.  We got away from “work” for a couple of days…(even though his phone still reminded us we weren’t far enough).
We are getting ready to go back to Bolivia in September–and praying continually about all the “changes” that the past months have brought.  Busyness–to the max.
In the class I’ve been teaching on Wednesday nights, it’s been “relationship” focused.  Not only has the class been relationship focused, but my mind has been relationship focused.  Mine and Jeff’s relationship–which is like most any relationship–would suffer if we didn’t make a conscious effort to maintain communication.
It’s the same with our relationship with God.  Communication is necessary–it is actually CRUCIAL to a relationship with God…just as it is in marriage.
No communication = No relationship.
So…I have to wonder about Abraham.  Did the communication remain steady?  Or did Abraham grow quiet…not seeking time with God as he first did on the journey….
Abraham is actually one of my favorites–maybe because his trust was so big.
“LEAVE”.  He did.
“GO”.  He did.
Abraham didn’t ask…he just obeyed.

It’s not fair for me to talk about Abraham’s faults without sharing one of mine.

A couple of weeks ago–I was a bit frustrated–with several things.  Jeff asked me one morning:  “What’s wrong, Angie?”

“Nothin'”  (yes, I know–but you better fess up–you do it too.)

He quickly responded, “don’t be teaching about communicating if you aren’t going to communicate”.

Ouch.

I had to back up and start again.  I couldn’t leave the house that morning–knowing I had just withheld the answer to his question–there was “stuff” that was wrong…”stuff” going on in my mind…and even though I had not sorted it all out yet–he deserved to know the truth.

Truth was–I needed prayer.  Truth was–I needed some time with just me and him–The truth was–I was tired of being tired.  (Stress will do that–and lack of communication) (grinning)

We’ve discussed many things in the past few weeks…where God is working–what He is speaking–or not speaking.  Where He is asking us to “just trust”…

Is there a place in your life right now where God is asking you to “step out” and do the seemingly impossible?  Maybe you’ve stepped out a little–but maybe He is asking for more….
Communication DAILY is the most important thing–the listening part and the talking part.
Keep a notebook handy when you are doing your Bible reading…keep it handy for your prayer times…HE will tell you some amazing things through His Word…and in your heart.

Psalms 139:23-24  Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:   And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Search me…know me…try me…LEAD ME.

Church in Cambodia

100_4666Today was a really good day.  We started it out going to church at the Dream Center at 8:00 this morning.  Words fail to describe the feeling that comes over you hearing a song sung in two different languages…but it was amazing.

Their worship team was anointed—and lifted their hearts and voices as one to The One….amazing.

As I stood there with the others singing and praising, I began to wonder how it all must sound to our Father…music beyond imagination.  One song, many voices, different languages…sweet aroma.

Vanessa and I sang a song, Jamey gave her testimony—the abbreviated version (those kids really couldn’t understand the full story—but what a blessing she was!  She is such an “on fire” woman for God and  she blesses everyone she comes into contact with!  An amazing witness and testimony of God’s saving, redeeming, and life changing power!

100_4679100_4685

Shauna Wigington brought us THE word for the hour…and for every single soul present.

After the service, we went outside to interact with the kids for a bit, play some games and and change up the order of the day.  After the games and activity time with the kids, we went back inside and heard the most amazing testimony of the A/G Missionary over The Dream Center.  His testimony was printed up in the Pentecostal Evangel in 2006 (which I will later share).  Tonight is not the night for the details—the reality of what he experienced and shared—and then what we saw today at the temples we visited, has my mind unable to grasp it enough to do it justice.  I will share a few pictures—and retire for the night.  It has been a long EXHAUSTING day.

Tomorrow we will go back to the dream center and finish the painting—it will be an amazing day—completing the project (please pray that there are no setbacks on anything).

Tuesday is the day we will travel to the floating school…did I tell you it was about a 30 minute boat ride away?  (Are you praying?)  These boats will take 36 women to the village where we will do home visits with some of the children that are sponsored by the women who are with us….that will be a life changing day—I am certain.  Some are concerned about the bathrooms….as they have no electricity…and they “float” on the water.

We’ll see….

I’ve learned a lot of information about the public school system here…it’s free…but it costs A LOT.  According to the missionary, the kids can go to school, but the fees for everything is astronomical.  The government pays the teachers about $30 a month—but many times the teacher will go for months and not be paid…therefore the teacher will refuse to teach the kids during the day, instead choosing to force the parents to hire him or her out as a private tutor for their children in the evenings.  If the parents refuse, the children are treated harshly and even punished during the school day.

The Dream Center is “dream” come true for the children that attend.  It is  a vocational school, teaching them all life skills, as well as gives them training in computer, music, and Bible Studies.  More on The Dream Center later.  Enjoy the pictures…It’s time for this weary traveler to say good night.

Sweet Times-Mother-Daughter’s Retreat

mother daughter retreat feb 2012-1

As we gathered in the condo unit provided to us by dear friends, the worries and stress began to melt away.  (Okay, if I’m going to be REAL honest, it took several hours, a few tears, and a “mother” talk.)

I believe, with all my heart—we are the most blessed daughters (and 1 son, Jeff) on the planet.  Our mother is a treasure—beyond all treasures.

On Saturday we did the unthinkable with Pier Park less than 5 minutes away…we stayed in our jammies until 3 o’clock in the afternoon!  We drank coffee, chia tea, and relaxed.  This was a retreat focused on Him.  The Giver of Life.

As we each poured out some “life issues” we each took turns pouring in to the other one.  And finally, we laid it all down at the foot of the cross.  We prayed—each in turn—for the others in the family.  Every single name was called.  Every single need was mentioned.  Every tear was caught by the Hand that holds us all…..His.

We finally left that afternoon and headed to Pier Park—not necessarily to “shop”, but instead to look (and eat).  Red Robin offered us up some tasty burgers…and of course the “Towering Onion”.   This was such a different retreat—shopping was really not on our minds….we relished time spent together.  The couch—with the glass door facing the gulf was the place to burrow down and rest.  Reflecting as twice a beautiful bird joined us…and y’all….this little bird had a purple necklace on.  Purple feathers laced it’s pretty neck….we noticed.

If you don’t notice things that God puts in your path—shame on you.

Psalms 37:23-24 says, “The Lord directs the steps of the godly.  He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall for the LORD holds them by the hand.”  (NLT, emphasis mine)

What an incredibly sweet God we serve.

I know many have noticed the lack of blogs…the reason?  Busy.  Much of my time is spent “writing” things out in my prayer journal, rather than putting them here….it is a time of seasoning—and testing that I’m in right now.  The seasoning is where He is adding things to my heart and spirit—that I pray is bringing Him glory.

Changes are taking place…

New LIFE—FRESH Determination

100_3445100_3446

Many weeks ago (seems like last week), two couples from our Young Adult class took steps—to follow after Jesus.  I cannot express what happened to me that Sunday—it was only small compared to what I am certain happened in the lives of these two couples.

When I witnessed the expressions on the faces and heard the passion in their voices—I knew God had really impacted them in a way they (as well as us) would never forget.

They were baptized IN HIM.  Walking away from the old ways of living, thinking and believing…taking instead a new fresh stance in their neighborhoods, their work places—and most of all in their families.  It has been costly for them in some ways—as it was for you….do you remember your decision to follow HIM?

I’m not sure who in the “blog-world” would ever think that living for Christ comes without paying a price…there is always a cost.  But the blessings of being adopted into the family of God—far outweighs anything we could have to pay or suffer through here.

So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children.  And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering. Romans 8:15-17 NLT

We have a great group of Young Adults—and there is a fresh fire stirring among them…and can I say the enemy is NOT happy about this in the least!  We’ve talked about what it takes to follow Him…

It takes everything you’ve got.  It takes determination to walk on—even when our family or friends go the opposite direction.  It takes studying God’s word to see how “Paul” made it through…It takes seeking GOD daily…even when time seems to squeeze everything OUT of us…. It takes digging into the well of forgiveness when you’ve been hurt—however it may have been.  Whether intentional—or accidental.  It takes forgiving….and walking away from the pain—but not the people.

We rub shoulders with the world daily—and even in the checkout line we experience rudeness and behavior unbecoming a Christian…even when they “claim” to be a Christ follower.  What are we to do?  Well, as I’ve asked our class… “what would Jesus do?  How would He handle the situation?”

For those who have been Christians for a long time, “we” should know to show compassion and love “no matter what”…but for those who are new in Christ—they will all need our prayers as they learn to walk this path of Life in His Light.  Prayer changes things…

Prayer changes things…but so does criticism.  Criticism causes discouragement, bitterness, broken heartedness and even sometimes giving up…. (If you have a new convert in your group or church, please don’t criticize….lovingly “show” by example and kind words and MUCH prayer, the Way.)

I love what I read in Oswald Chambers, “My Utmost for His Highest” earlier in the week:

“I am not being saved, I AM saved; salvation is as eternal as God’s throne; The thing for me to do is work OUT what God works in.  “Work out your own salvation,” I am responsible for doing it.  It means that I have to manifest IN THIS BODY the LIFE of the LORD Jesus, not mystically, but really and emphatically.   “I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection.”  Every saint can have his body under absolute control for God.  God has made us to have government over all the temple of the Holy Spirit, over imaginations and affections.  WE are responsible for these, and we must never give way to inordinate affections.”

There is no way to speak any more clear.  Oswald wrote with such passion and anointing—for “such a day as this”….these days we are living in…when everyone wants the living for Christ to be made “easy”.

There is no easy route friend.  “It is what it is”.  The trek Jesus made up the hill to Golgotha was not easy…but it was necessary in order for you and I to be saved….the price had to be paid…the Sacrifice had to be made.  And He willingly gave all.

How can we expect to do less than the very Son of God?  We give what God requires…our all.

When you pray—pray for those in your neighborhoods and churches who are making these new decisions of walking with Jesus….the way of life is new and certain to have difficulties as they learn to lean on God and trust Him for everything…but I pray that those near you will be encouraged by your testimonies of faith and perseverance to follow HIM.  Leave a trail for others to follow.

Jeff and I are very proud of “our” new family (we claim all our Young Adults as “ours”), and all that God is beginning in their lives.  We pray for them as they lean on God and learn more each day of His LOVE.

I can’t wait to see what God does NEXT!!

Missions

Life Updates and God’s Blessings!

IMG_0234I know…it’s been a while since we last talked.  If you had been here though—I would have talked your EAR off!  (Just ask Jeff.)

We have been busy with the many changes in our lives—all exciting ones!  (The things that cause a bit of stress…keeps us on our knees!)

We have moved—not far though—still on the camp grounds!  This is one of God’s blessings.  I had been wanting to downsize…and really feeling the “need” to do so…but needed the incentive—and a little nudge.  When our life long friends/former home pastor, Rev. Tommy Moore was elected as our new Superintendent, God granted us the opportunity! They now live in our little house and we moved to another little house!  They both say, “it feels like home”.  Mine does to me too.  This was a very sweet blessing from the LORD!

I will send our address out to those of you who have had it in the past—and if you want it Smile

Other Changes:

  • The house phone is turned OFF.  Why have one when it’s never used?
  • No TV nor cable at this house.  (Again, this is a blessing in disguise—I am not positive that it is given it’s proper recognition by all) (grinning here)
  • MANY things that fit in the other house does not fit here—that means MANY things will be up for sale at the November 12 Yard Sale for Missions (here at the camp grounds)  (This is another blessing—I mean—how much stuff do you really NEED?)
  • I am excited to work with Rese Moore, our Women’s Ministry Director and be involved in Section 7’s Women’s Ministry as their representative!  I can’t wait to get started (If you are from Section 7 and are reading this—you know what a busy time we’ve had lately, please forgive)
  • Common Grounds is GROWING.  We had Betty Shoopman with us in October—and had an AMAZING time! If you want an amazing woman of God—I encourage you to contact Betty for your next retreat—or a special Church service! (Picture at the bottom)
  • I am still writing for Street Talk Magazine and Kelley Ward does an amazing job editing and publishing this free magazine!
  • I am headed to Cambodia in March 2012 (If God continues to lead and direct) with Mission of Mercy –and now, along with Becky, Vanessa, Rene, Nikki, and Jamie!  YAY!
  • Jeff is working on the next mission trip for our church—stateside and foreign.
  • Jeff and I have been really enjoying teaching our Young Adult Class—“C-4″—Called-Chosen-Committed-Children of God” on Wednesday night! They are an awesome BUNCH!
  • Jeff has been extremely busy—but is enjoying all the excitement in the air around this place!  We look forward to what God has in store!
  • Scooter seems pretty excited to be here (he would be hurt if I didn’t mention him)

Pictures will come soon—I’ve really been too busy to take any!

I will be speaking at Carmel A/G Women’s Tea in November—if you think of  me—pray as I am seeking God for the message to bring to those awesome ladies!  (That is my home!)

Okay, I am hugging you all from here. (((hugs))).  My dear sweet friend, Lynn Donovan taught me that one.

We will get back to some devotions and Bible Study soon!

The above pictures are from our Common Grounds meeting in October.  What an amazing lesson on TRUSTING GOD she brought!  Thank YOU Betty for your obedient and kind heart!  I love you!!!  Susan Baldwin, Women’s Ministry Leader of Marianna First AG will be our special speaker on November 17—YOU don’t want to miss this!  I had a “sneak peek” at the message God has been pouring into her heart and life—YOU will be blessed!!

That’s all for tonight—there are probably MANY things I’m leaving out…but I’m tired 😉 So—goodnight—and THANK YOU for all those who sign up to get this little spot of blog news in your inbox!
