Writing Daze–Walking in the Dark

I suppose you think I’ve vacated the premises.  On the contrary.  I’m still very much HERE.

Thing is–things have been so busy.  I won’t bore you with the details (my last post was SO LONG), but I just wanted to include last weeks link to Internet Cafe`.

It was a “Life Lesson”.  And He kept teaching it to me for days–and maybe it even ran on into a few weeks.

“Walking in the Dark” is about something I think we all face.  Darkness while traversing this life of grace and mercy.   Sometimes we pull back on God–when He’s wanting us to go forward. Simply because we can’t “see where we’re going”.  I know.  I’ve been there.  Maybe you have too.

We had a great time–the weather was PERFECT.  Sunny Saturday–not a cloud in the sky!  THAT is how much God blessed us!

There are many more pictures to come…some will be attached to messages that the Lord is sharing with me.  Some new and exciting things–FIRST thank you for praying for the last very HARD test I had.  I passed–but it was SO MUCH GOD–I cannot even tell you!  There were many questions I just had to make a GUESS on.  So, I guess I guessed correctly.

COMMON GROUNDS.  For those of you who live near enough to join us (ladies only), we have had two wonderful times of prayer and discussion in the Word –and we will continue.  Jot this on your calendar, the 3rd Thursday night of each month (next one is March 17, 2011) at 6:00 SHARP.  We begin on the nose of 6.  It usually lasts a couple of hours, however if you need to leave early, that is fine as well.

What do we do?  Hmmm.  Ask the ladies at Sneads First Assembly of God.  I didn’t know a single one that came to my door last month–but we had the BEST time!  We also had join us 4 from local churches here in town as well.  Thank you girls for all your wonderful comments and input!  God was glorified with all the discussion about HIS goodness!  We have an open kitchen with coffee, tea, water and have had cakes and cookies.  HOWEVER, due to the fact that NO ONE ate anything last month–and everyone just seemed to rush to the living room to get started, I won’t worry with food!  We’ll continue to have coffee/tea, etc. but we are gathering to pray, share what God’s doing in and through our lives.  And according to “some”….HE IS DOING A LOT!

If you want to see God more active in your life…trying being more active in HIS Word.  I encourage you to fast and pray for the upcoming Common Grounds meeting.  With much excitement we will share what He has been doing among us!  And I’ve already heard some good things!
I welcome your e-mail with thoughts or questions regarding upcoming meetings!

We Have Family in Arkansas!

Want to see Christ in action? Watch the slide show.  These folks are the most amazing people we have ever had the privilege of meeting.  From Jonesboro, Arkansas; Swifton, Arkansas; Red Bud, Arkansas; Moro, Arkansas; Searcy, Arkansas and Harrisburg, Arkansas.

https://picasaweb.google.com/s/c/bin/slideshow.swf

They built a block wall to keep the grounds from eroding into the dorms (which was happening), built several storage rooms, installed a big new bathroom in the “Blair House” (Barbara, you will remember this house with great fondness.)  Some of the ladies scraped the damaged dorm ceilings and did repairs and painted some of the dorm interior walls.

Kris, a sister blessed with a gift of organization skills that are unbelieveable–organized Jeff’s shop.  The entire thing looks incredible!  Kris–when your group comes back….uhmmm it might need to be “re-organized” as other people go in and “borrow” and don’t put things back where they got it….

Another group of four ladies worked for ALL of the team by cooking the BEST meals and deserts around!  I told Pam and Vicki, they had totally spoiled Jeff.  He is used to either left overs, a sandwich or take-out for lunch.  They cooked fresh –homemade–nothing from a box meals!

Thank you Pam, Vicki, Glenda and Sandra for all the fine food and sweet friendship.  You girls blessed me more than anything I could have ever imagined.  (That story is for another blog post.)

We bonded with these folks in a way that left us both with tears when they departed.  These are people we call family.  And we thank God for the planting of our feet and crossing of our paths.

Thank you Pastor Matt Smith for bringing this fine group of missionaries to our district.  You all did an amazing job!  Words cannot fully express all the gratitude we feel for your heart and faith in action!

Thanks goes to:  Pastor Matt Smith (Team leader); Jerrel and Joyce Stevens; James and Vicki Kimberland; Chris and Pam Flanigan; Betty Hendrix; Tim Fry; Bill Womack; James Lynch; Kristina Guest; Bonnie Caples, Brian Caples, Benny and Sandra Wright; Pastor Jim Farris; Ida Best; Ronald Tacker, David Hendrix; Bill Vacco; and Pastor Carl and Glenda Neal.
Want to see the hands and feet of Christ in action?  Look again at the slide shows.

Weekend Reflections

Arkansas in Florida! Headline News

Jeff and I are blessed to have a fantastic team from Arkansas with us this week. Pastor Matt Smith and about 20+ folks from Jonesboro First Assembly of God, Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Pastor Carl Neal and his wife, Glenda from Swifton Assembly of God, Swifton, Arkansas. (Forgive me if I missed someone from another church there.)

What a group! They are with us for a week—and Jeff has some jobs lined up!  (You knew he would, right?)

SO! If you are from our neck of the woods, stop by and say hi!  Give them a hearty welcome and a big thank you from our West Florida District A/G Churches!
There are so many things that need to be done —this is just a wonderful blessing!

When God Pushes the Pause Button

Have you ever felt that?

The pause button has been pushed on the movie of  your life–or you’ve been put on hold…

Well, that is sort of how I feel right now.  Last week, my sister, Aimee reminded me, “Angie, it’s not your trip…it’s His.”

Yes, she is right.  For reasons known to Him fully it has been paused.  Put on hold.  Until AFTER March of this year.  If you have followed along on this ride, you know where I was going.  For very obvious reasons, the team won’t be going there right now. I had to pull all the posts down about the trip–again, for obvious reasons.  Safety issues of those already in place there–and for us.

The great peace in my heart about all of it is this:  God knew the day He placed the trip in my lap that this was going to happen.  Did I question Him?  What do you think?  Am I human?  Of course I questioned.

Things like, “Well why did You let me have it only to have it taken away?”

Hmmm.  I think we ask Him that about a lot of things.

The answer?  He says it to each of us.

“Do you trust Me?  If you truly trusted Me to handle this and all those other situations, then  the hand-wringing actions of your heart would cease.  Haven’t you learned yet?  If it’s in My hands….there is no reason you should be trying to hold it too.  My ways and thoughts are so much higher than your own.   Please let go so I can work.

There are things that should be accomplished in your heart and life before we can go on.  Things that involve others as well.  You do know that it’s not all about you, right?  It involves ALL of My children.  Hang on dear one.  Be patient.  I’m working….even though you can’t see it all right now….trust Me.”

What is it in your life that you are still worrying over?  To worry means we are not fully trusting.  We are clinging—to our own ways and ideas of how things should turn out.  Hmmm.   Although I’m working hard on this aspect of my walk with Him….I’ve not made it yet.

But I’m still working on it.  How about you?  Working on trusting—or worrying.  Make a decision—and stick to it.  TRUST HIM.

“Hemmed in Prayer”

Previously posted May 1, 2008.

A day hemmed in prayer is less likely to…

Unravel.

Ever have one of those days? Where they seem to unravel before your very eyes? I have had several. Lately. All at once.

Where do I run?

To the Master Tailor. He stands at the ready with needle in hand. Ready to put things back in order for me.

All I have to do is “stand still”…..and see the salvation of the Lord. Hemmed in by the Master. Best place to be in my opinion.

What you see here on this page was a wonderful discovery.  One of those “rare” discoveries, found when we “listen”.

Two Wednesday nights ago, I came home deeply burdened for a family problem. Wasn’t mine. But it hurt as if it were. As I was preparing for a small Bible Study session of just two, I began to talk to the Lord.

He heard. He listened. He answered in the most unique way. I told Him this:

“Lord, Wanda would love to be here to pray with us over this. This is exactly what she loved to do. Pray for the needs of others.”

And I began to cry. As I do fairly often.

As I loaded the dishwasher, the prayer and thoughts were still on my mind. And all of a sudden I had an urgency to go to the little study room where I had unloaded the things from Wanda’s “sewing room” the week before. I had not looked at “everything” yet.

As a matter of fact, the thread boxes were the last thing to look into. I had plundered the cross stitch pages and packets. I had touched all the hoops, felt of all the fabrics, but had left the thread box. Why? Well, it was a clear box…and clearly full of thread. Why open it? Why indeed.2008_blog_etc_053

When the urgency to “do something” comes over me, I generally obey. So I left my dishes as they were, dishwasher still open and walked to the room and grabbed the box. I just looked at it.

Pretty colors all neatly lined up like jewelry ready to wear.

Then I noticed in one corner of the box what looked like several folded pieces of paper. I opened the box for closer examination. When I unfolded them and began to read, I began to weep. I said, “Lord, this is exactly what Wanda would say.”

Every single verse was about prayer. She was using them to “hide in her heart” as she stitched. She was hemming her day in. She was closing the gap in all of our lives. The seam was strong. The Threads unbreakable, because she used the Thread of the Holy Spirit in her life.

When my visitor arrived, I fixed a cup of tea for each of us and we settled in to pray, share and read some Word. After she spilled her heart, I began to unfold the neatly clipped papers and spread them out on the table. As I read each one, she began to see the “thread of hope”.  The thread of consistency. The lifeline of salvation available to each of us….through prayer.2008_blog_etc_054

Although I love each member of my family, I am most in love with Jesus. And I am so thankful for Salvation, and for the grace and mercy extended to this wretched sinner. Thankful too, for the prayers of many when I was far from God—and they didn’t give up—even though the years of praying got long.

I am thankful that when I begin my day as my grandmothers did, and as Wanda did,  hemming my day —with prayer—it does not unravel. It holds strong.

After all, I have just sat before the Master Tailor.

Ready-Set-GROW!

Last year I met a new friend.  She graciously allowed me to take pictures to my hearts content–and I did.  Both Connie Haile and myself—snapped shots of God’s goodness in another life.  Rene was a blessing then, and she continues to be.  Thank you Rene for opening your heart and home to me!  I love you dearly! Sister of FAITH!

In 2008, I wrote a post for Sisters of Faith-“90 Days with Jesus Only”, and it directly tied in to the picture that I saw 2 years later.  That’s God.  I have tweaked the post–and you can find it on Laced With Grace.

I hope and pray that as you read, God reveals His heart and plan for your life as He has unfolded daily, His heart into mine.

What’s Around the Bend?

Only God knows the next details of our lives.  We must keep on track.  We must stay focused on HIS WILL, not our own plans and purposes.
There have been some news updates regarding the upcoming missions trip.  Please read this post carefully.

IMPORTANT Update:

I was sent an e-mail this morning regarding the trip (I will not even mention the location). We have been informed that we cannot “blog, facebook, or tweet” about the trip.  I was told, this is very different than our trip to Honduras.  I won’t share the “name” of our location before we leave, but if you are a regular reader, then you already know.

SO, since you know where I am headed, I am asking for BIG PRAYER. She (our missions trip coordinator) said it was for the protection of the ministry that already exists there. She also said that the AG have pulled many of their missionaries over the past few years from surrounding areas, as well as there.

So–if you are getting the very needed items for the children (some of you have asked for a list, if I have forgotten to send it to you, please remind me), please don’t share the location for the items via facebook or your blog. I thank you so much! If you have blogged about me “going there”, I ask you to please remove the post, as I have had to do so myself.

I will glady share the details about the trip when I return, although, I will not jepordize the ministry there in any way.  God has shown Himself to us all along this journey! God is moving and working! We must be diligent in our work as well.

All funds for the flying portion of the trip were raised–TOTALLY by God’s hand. I believe the needed supplies for the children will come in like manner. Through the hand of God. He already has those in place that He wants to use for His glory. It’s all about HIS GLORY. No one else.  I’ve already been hearing from some, and I am incredibly thankful.  You have no idea what it does to me to get a card with a verse of Scripture and a note from you!

So, if you planned to “keep up” with us while we traveled via my blog, I will not blog the trip work while we are there. I  WILL be able to take pictures–and can share from those when I return (possibly only in person though)!

I ask you to please write “Mission of Mercy” and the “name of the location of where we are going” on your refrigerator. (You can stick my name there too!) and pray for us all EVERY DAY. Before we leave and while we are gone.

Again, I so appreciate each one of you who have played a major role in my life. God has already used your love and friendship to me in amazing ways to “grow” me to where I am today. (And He’s not done….because I am so far from where He wants me to be! BUT I work toward that goal!)

IF the LORD impresses a particular passage of scripture for me, please send it–either via e-mail–text me, or through the mail! It is always amazing how HE uses each of us to help another. Through His Word!

Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV

Have a blessed week!
