Rains

2010-04-09 Lakeside April 2010 029

We need it.  We had some the night before last—powerful . . . surging . . . cleansing rain!  The skies rumbled with thunder–but we need more.

With Camp Nana officially closed (will post Cy and Jake’s photos later), the eyes turn to getting the house in shape to leave it.  Me that is.

I leave for Honduras on my first, of hopefully many, mission trips this month.  Tetanus shot scheduled–bags waiting to have the dust knocked off,  I sense something in the air.  Smells like rain.

The spiritual kind.

As I sat this morning—soaking in Him—He filled me with a fresh breath of Him.

Cleansing—covering—illuminating a once dark place.  My request of Him?  Clean out the cobwebs of my heart.  Let nothing remain that does not belong—remove every obstacle that may hinder or keep my walk from following Him to the fullest.

So that I may know Him more fully.  So that I may share what He is—what He has done—is doing—and His purpose for each of us—as we take HIS hand and follow after Him.

My journey may be totally different than yours—but if your heart is linked to His, then so is our path.  Straight from the cross to the sky.  The heavens, where the rain falls from.

For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, And floods on the dry ground; I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, And My blessing on your offspring; (Isaiah 44:3)

The heavens—where the rain falls from…

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Psalm 19:1 (NIV)

The heavens—where the rain falls from…

The heavens declare His righteousness, And all the peoples see His glory. Psalm 97:6 (NKJV)

My  heart proclaims the wonders of God—what He has done—what He is doing!

I once read a story about a parched land and two farmers.*  Severe was the drought—they both prayed with all their might for rain to fall.  One farmer stayed on his porch and watched the sky.  While the other farmer plowed his field in the hot scorching sun though the dry dusty ground was hard to till.  He worked on.

Which farmer was believing God to answer his prayer?

Their love for God may have been the same—yet only one farmer truly believed God was about to pour out the rain—and he had to hurry to get the ground ready to receive.

And soon the skies thundered—and the rains came.

*The author of this story is unknown to me—and I may have changed the wording since I don’t know where I read it—but the message of the story stuck.  If we are to be able to bless others from the rains that come into our lives, we must “prepare” the ground of our hearts.

Prepare is the word that I have heard over and over from my Father since this leg of my journey has begun.  And that, dear friend is what I am doing.  Preparing my heart and life for “more of Him”.

For more of Him—there are things that must be, not just shelved, but removed.  Completely.  Not that they are necessarily wrong—but perhaps for me they are a distraction.

Anything that distracts us from our common sense search and seeking of the heart of Christ must be removed in order for us to receive all that He has for us.

Friends….expect changes!

Good ones!

For I am faithfully,

Following Him

28 Years Ago Today…

God began a work.

A good work.

Into the lives of 2, God brought many!

Staying together through all the battles life can bring is rare for so many today…yet with God—we are here!  Glad to have our arms wrapped tightly around each other!

Thank you LORD for the blessing of marriage.  Thank you LORD for the blessing of my sweet man, myOld_Family_Pictures_015 children, grandchildren, and all the lives You bring into our hearts and home!

“Trust in the LORD with all  your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”  Proverbs 3:5-6

I am thankful of where we’ve both come from—I am thankful for the heritage we both have—and the legacy we will leave behind.

Follow Jesus.  No matter where the path leads, follow Him—as He directs and leads your lives—you can rest assured, He will be there—at the end to meet you!header

What started out with just us two…

Then the added blessing of two more…

Grew to this…and perhaps…just maybe…will grow some more!

Maybe.

Psalm 121

A song of ascents.

1 I lift up my eyes to the hills— August_2009_Ellijay_016
where does my help come from?

2 My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

3 He will not let your foot slip—
       he who watches over you will not slumber;

4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
       will neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The LORD watches over you—
       the LORD is your shade at your right hand;

6 the sun will not harm you by day,
       nor the moon by night.

7 The LORD will keep you from all harm—
       he will watch over your life;

8 the LORD will watch over your coming and going
       both now and forevermore.

On my morning walks. . . .

Have you ever just “asked” God to show you something neat?
Do you ask expecting? (Luke 11:9)

When I first began walking with my friend and sister-in-Christ, Stacy, I asked God to show me “stuff”.

I asked Him to bring surprises to my eyes that would delight me.

Guess what happened on the 2nd day of walking? The day that we decided to go a bit further.

As we put forth more effort that day, so did He. Since I generally always have my camera
God’s creation posed for me to snap his feathered delights!

Today we met up with our feathered-noisy friend and again, he did a bit of strutting and showing off.
I am incredibly thankful for ALL the glorious things that God shows us and shares with us each day!

So friend….what is He showing you??

Attagirl!

Do you realize your value?

Even though it is easy—so very easy to get caught up in seeking approval and validation from man—we love that pat on the back—that “attagirl”. But it does not always come. However, God sees.

Everything.

In the middle of March, my husband, Jeff and I participated…..

For the REST of the story, you will have to visit Laced with GRACE!

What if….this was your last birthday?
What if….this was your last Mother’s Day?  Your last Father’s Day?
Your last Easter?
What if your last Christmas was last Christmas?

Are you ready?

To meet Jesus?

Have you taken stock of the last 10 years of your life?  What about the last 10 months.  The last 10 weeks.  Maybe the last 10 minutes contain things that needs the Blood covering of Jesus Christ.

Watch this video–and may God in heaven move your heart and change your life.  May He reveal once and for all–His divine love and care for YOU.
